CPCL Recruitment 2026: Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL), a Navratna Public Sector Organization and a Group Company of Indian Oil Corporation Limited, has released an official notification for the recruitment of Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (Production), Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (Mechanical), Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (Electrical) and Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (Instrumentation). There are 60 vacancies available for these posts. Candidates with Diploma in Engineering or B.Sc. with Chemistry along with the required work experience are eligible to apply. Job Location: Chennai, Tamil Nadu

Salary:

  • Selected candidates will be appointed in Non-Supervisory Cadre (Grade IV) with an IDA pay scale of ₹25,000 – ₹1,05,000/- per month. The starting basic pay will be ₹25,000/-. Candidates will also be entitled to DA, HRA/Self-Lease, PF, Gratuity, LTC/LFA, medical reimbursement and other applicable benefits as per CPCL rules.

Qualification & Experience:

Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (Production):

  • Qualification: 3-year Diploma in Chemical, Petroleum, Petrochemical Engineering/Technology or B.Sc. with Chemistry as a major subject, with minimum 60% marks for General/OBC/EWS candidates and 55% marks for SC candidates against reserved posts.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant post-qualification work experience in Continuous Process Units of Refining, Chemical, Petrochemical, Fertilizer or Gas Processing Industry. Experience should include operation of equipment such as fired heaters, exchangers, pumps, compressors, distillation columns, reactors, high-pressure vessels, effluent treatment plants, cooling towers, tank farms, pressurized storage bullets and pump houses.

Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (Mechanical):

  • Qualification: 3-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 60% marks for General/OBC/EWS candidates and 55% marks for SC/PwBD candidates against reserved posts.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant post-qualification experience in maintenance of rotary equipment such as process pumps, compressors and turbines, and stationary equipment such as boilers, heat exchangers, columns, vessels, piping, valves and tanks in Refinery, Petrochemical, Chemical, Fertilizer, Power Plant or large industrial establishments.

Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (Electrical):

  • Qualification: 3-year Diploma in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering with minimum 60% marks for General/OBC/EWS candidates and 55% marks for SC/PwBD candidates against reserved posts.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant post-qualification experience in maintenance of electrical equipment such as motors, transformers, generators, HT and LT switchgear, control and protection systems, UPS, battery banks, battery chargers and variable frequency drives. Candidates should also be capable of reading, understanding and troubleshooting control circuits.

Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (Instrumentation):

  • Qualification: 3-year Diploma in Instrumentation, Instrumentation & Electronics, Instrumentation & Control or Electronics & Communication Engineering with minimum 60% marks for General/OBC/EWS candidates and 55% marks for SC candidates against reserved posts.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant post-qualification experience in maintenance of process control instrumentation in Refinery, Petrochemical, Chemical, Fertilizer or large process industrial establishments. Candidates should have knowledge of preventive/ breakdown maintenance, troubleshooting and rectification of field instruments, transmitters and control valves, along with familiarity with DCS/PLCs, P&ID, logic control diagrams and calibration reports.

Age Limit (as on 01 July 2026):

  • Maximum Age – 30 Years

Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST candidates – 5 Years
  • OBC candidates – 3 Years
  • PwBD candidates – 10 Years for General, 13 Years for OBC and 15 Years for SC
  • Ex-Servicemen – Relaxation as per service rendered plus 3 years, subject to a maximum age of 50 years.

Selection Process:

  • Computer Based Test (CBT)
  • Document Verification
  • Skill, Proficiency and/or Physical Test (SPPT)
  • Medical Examination

The CBT will carry 120 marks and consist of 50 General Aptitude questions and 70 Discipline Knowledge questions. The duration will be 2 hours, with 1/4 mark negative marking for each incorrect answer. The SPPT will be qualifying in nature.
