CVRDE Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Combat Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (CVRDE), Avadi, Chennai, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Defence has released an official notification for the engagement of Apprentice Trainees under the Apprentices Act, 1961. There are 93 vacancies available across various ITI Pass. Candidates with ITI qualification in the relevant trade are eligible to apply. Interested and eligible candidates can attend the Walk-in Interview from 08 to 09 September 2026, from 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM. Salary:

• COPA, Painter, Welder, Computer Networking Technician, Computer & Peripherals Hardware Repair & Maintenance Mechanic, CAD-CAM Operator Cum Programmer, Food Production (General) – ₹10,560/- per month
• Draughtsman (Mechanical), Electrician, Fitter, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Machinist, Plumber, Turner, Electronics Mechanic, Sheet Metal Worker, Photographer, Book Binder – ₹11,040/- per month

Qualification & Experience:

• Qualification: Candidates must have passed ITI from an institute recognized by NCVT/SCVT in the relevant trade. For most trades, the ITI course should be of minimum 2 years duration, except COPA, Painter, Plumber, Welder and Food Production trades.
• Eligible Trades: Computer Operator & Programming Assistant (COPA), Draughtsman (Mechanical), Electrician, Fitter, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Machinist, Painter, Plumber, Turner, Welder, Electronics Mechanic, Sheet Metal Worker, Computer Networking Technician, Computer & Peripherals Hardware Repair & Maintenance Mechanic, Photographer, Book Binder, CAD-CAM Operator Cum Programmer, Food Production (General)

Note: Only candidates who passed the qualifying examination in 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026 are eligible. Candidates who passed before 2023 are not eligible.

Age Limit (as on 01 September 2026):

• Minimum Age – 18 Years
• Maximum Age – 27 Years for UR candidates
• Maximum Age – 30 Years for OBC candidates
• Maximum Age – 32 Years for SC/ST candidates
• Maximum Age – 37 Years for PwD candidates

Selection Process:

• Shortlisting based on ITI marks
• Walk-in Interview
• Document Verification
• Selected candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying ITI examination and thereafter called for the Walk-in Interview. Selected candidates will be issued the joining letter on the spot at CVRDE, Avadi, Chennai.

• Candidates must carry the required original documents along with copies for verification.

How to Apply:

Eligible candidates must complete their NCVT/SCVT MIS Portal registration and carry the registration number while attending the Walk-in Interview. Candidates should report to CVRDE, Avadi, Chennai between 09:00 AM and 05:00 PM on 08 or 09 September 2026 with all required documents for verification.
