Southern Railway Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Southern Railway has released an official notification for the engagement of Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961. There are 4,471 vacancies available for various trades. Candidates with 10th Pass, 10th + ITI and 12th + ITI qualifications are eligible as per the respective trade. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online from 28 August 2026 to 27 September 2026 (05:00 PM). Position: Act Apprentice

Job Location: Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, SPSR Nellore, Chittoor and Dakshina Kannada.

Salary:

• Fresher – 10th Pass: ₹8,200/- per month
• Fresher – 12th Pass: ₹9,600/- per month
• Ex-ITI: ₹9,600/- per month
• Stipend will be increased by 10% during the second year and 15% during the third year as applicable.

Qualification:

Fresher Category:

• Qualification: 10th Pass with minimum 50% marks for Fitter, Painter and Welder trades.
• For MLT trades, candidates must have 12th Pass with Physics, Chemistry and Biology with minimum 50% marks.

Ex-ITI Category:

• Qualification: 10th Pass with minimum 50% marks + ITI in relevant trade from a recognized ITI with NCVT/SCVT certificate.
• For Electrician, 10th with Science is required. For Electronics Mechanic, 10th with Science and Mathematics is required.
• For Secretarial Assistant & Stenographer, 12th Pass + relevant ITI is required.
• For COPA/PASSA, 10th Pass + National Trade Certificate in COPA is required.

• The merit list will be prepared on the basis of academic marks. For Ex-ITI candidates, equal weightage will be given to Matriculation and ITI marks.
